BRIGHTON EXPORTS INNOVATION TO LONDON
Local specialist support and management consultancy, Bizvizion (clear's previous name), has successfully exported a winning formula to support innovation and creativity to London. Supported by Haven Ventures, also from this area, Bizvizion has created Innovate South London as a sustainable model for delivering specialist support to innovators and creatives across South London. This is based on the model Bizvizion is running in Brighton offering:
• Serviced office space and incubator desk space with high quality facilities • Specialist business support services, marketing and routes to finance • Targeted networking, events & seminars
The centres created provide the opportunity to locate a business in a prestigious and profile raising location with the additional benefits of co-location with like-minded innovative and creative companies and association with the innovation brand.
Opening their first Innovation Support Centre in Croydon recently, Lord Sainsbury, Minister for Science and Innovation said: “We must create the kind of climate in which innovation will thrive and where we can unlock the abundant knowledge in our universities and turn it to our commercial advantage…………Innovate South London is a welcome addition to this growing list of achievements”.
The high profile launch was attended by Lord Sainsbury, Minister for Science, Sir Robin Young, Permanent Secretary at the DTI, and a galaxy of personalities from regeneration and business across London and the South East. The Innovate South London (ISL) project is funded by the LDA (London Development Agency), South London Business and Croydon Council, with the brief to generate an innovation culture and several innovation centres across South London over the next 3 years.
The support team of Barclay Thompson, Ian Elwick, Jonathan Wood, Lavinia Popa and Angela Wilkinson have between them wide experience in the key sectors, enabling them to offer specialist business support, mentoring and routes to finance to start-ups and established companies of all sizes. Not only that but Bizvizion has already developed a fully sustainable model for start-up support in its Brighton based ‘Accelerator’.
Bizvizion director Barclay Thompson says: “The unique experience of the team in facing the challenges of regeneration along the South Coast, matched by extensive prior experience in London has benefited us enormously in South London. We have hit the ground running, laying the groundwork for a solid, sustainable network of specialist centres across the region”.
