Milton Keynes: A Study into the Provision of Creative Industries Workspace and Display Space Clear (formerly Bizvizion) has recently produced an extensive Study of creative workspace in the Borough of Milton Keynes for Milton Keynes Council (MKC), The Arts Council England and English Partnerships. The Study provides information that will enable the partners to make informed strategic decisions about the characteristics and supply of creative workspace and display space in Milton Keynes. The Study also contains recommendations as to how to encourage the further development of the cluster of creative businesses in Milton Keynes, Bletchley and Wolverton. The recommendations are now feeding through into local policy and partnership activities with continuing involvement by Clear. MK Council and the local Chamber of Commerce used Clear’s recommendations to help secure funding of £300,000 from the Growth Area Fund (part of the Sustainable Communities Plan) to develop a Creative Industries Centre, on a floor of a building in Central MK, which opened in May 2005. Clear (formerly Bizvizion) also worked for English Partnerships to provide the business case, through market research and interviews with stakeholders, for creative workspace in the prestigious redevelopment of the Triangle Building in Wolverton. To encourage involvement from creative businesses and local stakeholders Clear held an event with Madcap, the local community arts theatre, to present our findings and gauge public opinion on the way forward for the workspace development. |

Survey and Analysis of Creative Industries in South London In May 2005 Bizvizion completed a study of the creative industries in South London for South London Business (SLB) to support their business retention programme, funded by the LDA. A total of 81 creative businesses and support organisations were interviewed for this study. The survey results were then analysed by Bizvizion to ascertain the key issues facing the creative industries in South London leading to recommendations for how these can be addressed. Research into the local, regional and national context of the creative industries was provided, together with examples of best practice elsewhere. The report has been well received and has already fed into policy formulation relative to the Creative Industries across parts of the sub region. |
